He spent one year as a Post-Doc at the Division of Mineral Physics of CSIRO in North Ride, Australia and in 1974 was appointed the first professor of Rock Mechanics at Luleå Technical University (LTU). He built up brittle-ductile models in a centrifuge apparatus at the Hans Ramberg Tectonic Laboratory at Uppsala University (Sweden) [see Ramberg, 1981; Mulugeta, 1985]. In this work, we focus on extension in ductile-brittle systems and study the distribution and spacing of faults in the brittle crust and the factors controlling flow and magma emplacement Sandbox models were performed in 1998 at the Hans Ramberg Tectonic Laboratory (Uppsala University, Sweden). They consisted of a sand/glass bead pack 12 to 26 mm thick and 40 cm long in the undeformed state, deformed by a rigid backstop advancing at a constant speed of 0.3 mm/min.
